When is it time to update your website?

Ahh, the age old questions. How old is too old? How ineffective is too ineffective? Well, I've put together a top 10 list of sorts with some in-sites into just this particular question. Actually it's more like a tribute to Jeff Foxworthy. You know your web site's too old & too ineffective when...

10. Your home page — or any page — takes more than four seconds to load due to unoptimized images etc.

9. When your site links to other sites that no longer exist.

8. Your site's TITLE tag is something like "New Document", "Index".

7. You use font faces that are not appropriate for your audience — like Comic Sans on a financial site.

6. Your logo does not look like it was professionally made or uses obvious clip art graphics.

5. Your site has sections that are under construction and the public can access them.

4. Your navigation buttons fail to do proper roll-overs.

3. Your site consists of severely pixelated/blurry graphics

2. Our site doesn't make us look like credible professionals.

and last but certainly not least...

1. Severely outdated last modified date is visible on the pages like "last updated, August 1998"

These are just a few of the issues that can hinder an otherwise great company from having an effective web presence.
